Course Sponsorship Opportunities Announced in Lincoln

The Lincoln Flying Disc Club is soaring into action. By taking action now you can make a difference in the sport of the future. Here are some clips from the sponsorship solicitation letter.

Project Overview
Lincoln Flying Disc Club in partnership with Lincoln Parks Foundation and City of Lincoln Parks and Recreation is growing the sport of disc golf in Lincoln by improving and making permanent disc golf courses at Max E. Roper Park in northwest Lincoln and Tierra Park in south central Lincoln. These courses will allow for recreational and competitive disc golf opportunities for visitors and local residents.

Participants
The two disc courses at Max E. Roper park will be able to accommodate nearly 1,000 disc golfers per day for recreational purposes, and more than 180 disc golfers during competitive events.

Timeline
The first phase of the project for which sponsorships are being solicited, Roper East, is expected to be completed by Fall 2016 with a new kiosk, cement tee pads for a pro tee and amateur tee on each hole, hole signage, and new baskets. Roper West is expected to be completed by Fall 2017 with the same amenities. The scope of Tierra Park is not fully identified; however replacing the equipment on the current nine-hole disc golf course is expected to occur by Spring 2018.

• Ace – $10,000 (one available per course)
• Albatross – $5,000
• Eagle – $2,500

• Caddy – $100, $75, $50, $25, $10

Roper East Project Overview

• 36 Concrete tee pads
• 19 New baskets (1 for putting circle)
• 18 New metal & plexiglass tee signs
• 3 New pin locations per hole
• 1 New message board for all park activities

Timeline: (Dates are tentative)

• August 14th: Move all baskets to Roper West.
• Build concrete pad forms on site.
• August 15th: Pour 17 tee pads.
• August 16th: Pour 18 tee pads.
• August 17th: Dig 18 holes for tee signs, 24 holes for pins.
• August 18th: Pour concrete and install signs.
• August 19th: Install sign graphics.
• August 20th: Install landscaping around tee pads. August 21st: Install new baskets.
• August?: Build new message board.

GoFundMe: Tee Pads for Hummel Park

Back in June of 2007 there was a meeting with some of the Omaha disc golfers and the Parks Department. The meeting was about identifying the areas of Hummel Park available for disc golf. Soon after people got to work and have carved a disc golf course into the park. The course is a work in progress and gaining momentum. The OMDGA is asking for help with permanent tee pads. Help a lot, or help a little, the money is going to a good cause for disc golf in Nebraska. Someday when you’re playing from those permanent tees you will be glad you helped contribute.

Summer Sensation

A PDGA C-Tier event with a twist: for ladies only! For the first time in 26 years of disc golf tournaments in Nebraska there is a tournament specifically for women. The Omaha Metro Disc Golf Association is hosting the Summer Sensation tournament at two courses on Saturday, July 9. The morning round is at Seymour Smith Park with round two at Aspen Park.

Last year the Kansas City Flying Disc Club hosted the KC Diva Spring Feeva. The 2nd annual event filled in 2016. The Summer Sensation is hoping for a good turnout for the first year and has a long list of sponsors.

OMDGA club president Chris Oien has this announcement: ATTENTION! This is a call out to all our disc golf friends. WE ARE IN NEED OF VOLUNTEERS for the all women tournament this weekend.This is the first event of it’s kind in Nebraska history. We are in need spotters, also people to keep an eye on the course and casual players trying to cut in on the women’s groups. We need people to play golf in front of, and behind the women’s groups to keep them from being interrupted during their round at Seymour. We would like to fill the course with golfers that know there is a tourney going on. So, if anything, We are asking you to come play a round at Seymour Saturday morning. Meet in the parking lot at 8:30-9am. There is one round at Seymour, and one round at Aspen. The Aspen round should be ok. Still could use some help there as well. We really need to support our women golfers in this state. This is a great way to do so. So please come out and lend a hand, and show your support.
